US 101 / Willow Road interchange design

Dear City Council Members,

Thank you for reviewing the Willow / 101 interchange-improvement design status. Though it may not be a perfect design to some of my neighbors (given the huge challenges of commute-hour congestion), the current design will alleviate traffic problems in our neighborhood very well.

Please continue to support the current design. As a Willows-neighborhood resident, I strongly support this design.

I live six blocks from the interchange and use it occasionally at 5pm. The evening-commute congestion on Willow Road is a common topic of concern among my neighbors. Some want a new design in order to deal with increasing traffic, but that would be a mistake because the current design is the best that our community can get built. Funding and approvals are in place.

The Dumbarton Bridge unfortunately is a very difficult bottleneck in the evening. Though cut-through and backed-up traffic waiting for bridge-access is a frustration, it would be a mistake for our City to support a re-engineering of the current intersection-improvement design in order to gain a very slight improvement in traffic-flow, if any. Also, the majority of Menlo Park's future employment growth will occur on the east side of Hwy 101, so the current interchange-improvement design should perform well going forward.

Please continue to vote to support the current design. It is time to proceed.

Thank you very much. / Clem Molony
