Regarding Menlo Park as a Sanctuary City

Dear Menlo Park City Council,

I'm writing in *support *of Menlo Park becoming a sanctuary city.

Now more than ever, it is important that we maintain rational and
compassionate policies regarding immigrants from every country. Whether
they are documented or not, this community depends on all its members.
There are many people living here because they want to live in safety and
because they want a better economic future. Those people deserve a city
that recognizes their contributions and potential, as well as helps foster
a transition to legality. I believe this is both the morally right thing
to do and the most beneficial policy for the city and its legal residents.

Trump's proposed policies

on
immigration are misguided, aggressive, and harmful. Assisting in the
enforcement of these policies will be a waste of the city's valuable
resources and will create an atmosphere of distrust between the public and
local law enforcement/government officials. Simply by being a sanctuary
city, Menlo Park can continue to be a beacon of innovation and progress -
unhindered by the conflict and chaos that will be unavoidable with these
harsh and unnecessary immigration policies.

I've lived in Menlo Park for a little over a year and I know there are many
people living here who have been here much longer and have contributed much
more to this community, both documented and not. Be brave on behalf of
these people.

*Please make Menlo Park a sanctuary city.*

Thank you for your time and consideration! If there are more ways to be
involved in the process of this decision, please let me know, as I feel
passionately about it.

Sincerely,
Amy Lorber
