Win of the Week
Safety Workshops to High School Expands

Last year, SVBC’s youth education programs scored a big win by beginning to serve high school students through the ECO2school program, at San Jose and Branham High Schools.

This year, we secured funding to bring Eco2School to two new high schools, Broadway High School and Downtown College Prep, both in San Jose.

Learn more about this announcement, and how Eco2School will inspire long-term community environmental action, through promoting green commutes (https://bikesiliconvalley.org/2017/02/safety-workshops-high-school-expands/) .

Safer Streets in Santa Clara > Couple of More Minutes of Traffic

The road diet on Pruneridge Ave. in Santa Clara has made for a safer street and more bicyclists. Great, right? Well, frustration about traffic led to the City hosting a community meeting on Jan. 30. SVBC member Betsy Megas was there, and shares her summary of the meeting, and next steps (https://bikesiliconvalley.org/2017/02/safer-streets-santa-clara-couple-minutes-traffic/) .
Recruit a New Bicyclist Today. Tomorrow: the World

Have someone in your life that you’ve been trying to convince to hop on a bike, but they’re not confident yet? Invite them to our Urban Bike Workshop, Feb. 16 in San Mateo (https://bikesiliconvalley.org/event/bicycle-commutersan-mateo-bay-bikes-workshop/) , where they can learn the rules of the road, and you can both learn how to use the Bay Bikes bike share!
