2017 Council Priority - Safe Routes to Schools

From: domainremoved <Jennifer>

Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,

Parents for Safe Routes is ready to partner with the City of Menlo Park
(and other relevant jurisdictions) to develop and institutionalize a
comprehensive Safe Routes to School program. We have a growing base of over
150 people, we have parents becoming embedded in school PTO's and our
leadership team has just kicked off our efforts with a meeting this
morning.

We understand that there are many valuable and important priorities to be
addressed by the City. That being said, Safe Routes can not wait.

*Menlo Park streets are not safe for kids. *

*Because Menlo Park streets are not safe, parents choose single occupancy
vehicle trips.*

*Because parents drive to schools one by one, there is more traffic.*

*...And because there is more traffic, the streets are even less safe...and
on and on...*

As your constituents, we are respectfully giving you a mandate and
demonstrating political will. We have organized, signed letters, sent
emails, shown up.

Please prioritize Safe Routes in 2017.

Thank you,
Jen
