Downtown parking reductions

Dear Council,

I sent you an email a few weeks ago with alternatives to the proposed
downtown parking reduction plan. This week's Almanac (page 5) has an
article saying that the Council approved this plan for elimination of 130
to 177 street parking spots. BTW the Bike and Traffic commissioners told me
it was 85 spots, not 177.

Page 6 of the same Almanac says the City Council agreed to spend $60,000 on
a consultant to 'research and court potential retailers and restaurants to
come to Menlo Park.' I suggest that you save the $60,000 and walk around
Menlo Park during the day. There is little or no available parking so
shoppers switch to Stanford Shopping Center, Redwood City, or the web.
Very few, if any, switch to bicycles.

Please support our local merchants by making the downtown more accessible
for shopping.

Best regards,
Anita Ochieano
