Oak Grove Bike Way

Dear City Council Members,

In January you will have the opportunity to review Greenheart's Station 1300 development. The proposal will include two options for providing bike ways on Oak Grove. The trial you are considering should take into account the ultimate configuration of Oak Grove.

Option 1 (Greenheart proposal)
  — Widen OG to the MP plan line
  — Provide parking on both sides of OG
  — Provide bike ways (5.0 ft) and buffers (2.4 ft) on both sides of OG

Option 2 (Transportation Commission proposal)
  — Current width of OG remains the same
  — Eliminate parking from only the Station 1300 side of OG
  — Provide bike ways (5.0 ft) and buffers (2.3 ft) on both sides of OG

We prefer Option 1 because it provides the parking our new retail needs as well as the buffered bike ways.
  — The community desires retail and we plan to respond to that desire.
  — OG is not a great location for retail and thus parking needs to be optimized for the success of those businesses. Analyses have shown that even a modest amount of business frontage parking is important.
  — If there is no parking (Opiton 2), some delivery trucks will park in the bike way and create a dangerous condition.

Thank you for your consideration.

Steve
