water reuse General Plan

Dear Honorable Menlo Park City Council Member,

I am writing in support of retaining the strongest possible water recycling requirements for large new developments in our General Plan.

It seems nothing less than common prudence and good business practice to build the building with water recycling in the original design, rather than to have to retrofit at greater expense in the future, when we have every reasonable expectation of experiencing water shortages soon. This likelihood can only be accelerated and deepened with the incoming federal administration and its hostility to mitigating climate change.

It also seems likely that the price of water will have to increase, and that companies will be thankful they arenít wasting it. We ought to do what we know is good planning for scenarios which are not the most ideal ones, what is not wasteful, what sets the proper trend in our region, and what prepares our community well for the future.

As a citizen concerned about maintaining our quality of life and ability to live sustainably in Menlo Park, I ask you to retain our water reuse requirements.
