Dear Mayor and Council Members,
This is a long over due THANK YOU for your continuing support of the
Off Leash dog Park at Nealon Park. It has become an important an
valuable part of not only my dog's life but mine too. I never though
I would be a dog owner, but when my daughter (Cobra pilot in the
Marine Corps) was deployed to Iraq, I became 'grandma' to TJ. The
owners and the dogs at the park welcomed us with open arms, shared
dog care practices as well as their friendship. From them I have
learned of an organization that encourages the companionship of dogs
in the rehabilitation of our returning injured soldiers who are at
the Veterans Hospital. I have also met many Middle School parents
and students that have been an asset to me, giving me hints and
recommending books for the at risk Middle School students with whom I
work in East Palo Alto. The people and the dogs at the 'Dog Park'
have become a new group of valuable, caring, and loyal friends.
As you can tell from my personal experiences, the "Dog Park" has had
far reaching benefits... it fulfills a need for dogs, dog owners and
quite a network of others, far outreaching our community. THANK YOU
for providing such an asset to our community.
Sincerely,
Dorothy Hunter
and TJ
