Thank You Note for GRID Alternatives - Facebook - Menlo Spark solar program in Belle Haven

Dear City Council Members,

We've been working with families in Belle Haven over the past year to help low-income home owners access free solar power systems for their homes through a partnership with Facebook and a nonprofit called GRID Alternatives, and with support and leadership from some of you and City of Menlo Park staff. The ten families that have received free solar panels so far are saving an average of $600 per year for each homeowner, and collectively reducing over 300 tons of carbon emissions. The program will continue over the next year serving 15 more families in Belle Haven, as well as ten families in East Palo Alto.

We would like to share this note of appreciation from one recipient, Mariely Mendoza:

Dear Grid alternatives and Facebook,

Our family would like to take a moment to thank you for the opportunity you gave us to have solar panels installed in our home. we have seen a huge difference in our monthly PG&E bill. We have been able to save money on our energy bill, and use that money towards other expenses. We are a family of seven and this has been extremely helpful. The whole process from application to the installation was amazing. Your professionalism courtesy and kindness made this process smooth and fast. The follow up phone calls after the installation, shows that you are invested in the families you help. We would also like to take a moment to thank Facebook, their support to the Bell haven community has been amazing. The positive changes we have seen in our community are beautiful and you have made this possible. We are excited to continue seeing changes in our community. Being able to have a positive impact in the environment is also a nice feeling. Thank you so much for your help!

Thank you!

The City of Menlo Park has provided invaluable leadership and support for this wonderful program, and is also fortunate to have business leaders, like Facebook, stepping up to bridge the funding gap to provide free solar power for low-income families in Belle Haven.
Warm regards,
Diane Bailey
