Oak Ct. gate access to Laurel Upper School

Council members,

My husband and I have lived on Oak Court for several years now with our
four young children. During that time, we have enjoyed the luxury of
walking our children to and from school as they attend the German-American
Intl. School. We have also witnessed the increase of cut-thru traffic
speeding along Oak Ct. thinking it will get them from Woodland to Menalto,
especially at times when Woodland Ave. backs up from University. We wanted
to put a few words out to you all regarding the operation of the Oak Court
traffic gate associated with the new Laurel Upper School.

The Menlo Park City School District has stated several times that this gate
will only be operational for two school busses a day, plus any emergency
vehicles, bicyclists, or pedestrians. MPCSD has promised that no cars will
use it. Oak Ct. and Woodland Ave. are two small streets not equipped to
deal with an influx of automobile traffic and the School District has
acknowledged this. We'd like to see a* legal agreement *between the City of
Menlo Park and the Menlo Park City School District stating those use
parameters. I believe the Menlo Park City Attorney has recommended in
favor of such an agreement, as well.

Thank you for your time!
