Sidewalks are needed for child safety near schools

Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,

As a Laurel parent and Menlo Park resident, I am writing to encourage you to have sidewalks on both sides of the street for the transportation recommendations being considered for Upper Laurel (provided in Staff Report 16-008-TC - http://www.menlopark.org/DocumentCenter/View/10753).

As I drive to the current Laurel school I am amazed we let many kids walk, scooter, and cycle on the narrow road without a side walk. This is dangerous as we also have a lot of amped up over caffeinated super achievers staring at their cell phones zooming around in luxury and at times silent electric vehicles. Some poor child will soon get hurt unless you do something.

Please include sidewalks on both sides of the street at the Upper School and consider doing the same on routes to the current Laurel campus.

Thank you.
