Pocket Park on Curtis Street

I really like the pocket park that the City of Menlo Park has provided on a closed portion of Curtis Street in our downtown. Our office is very close by, and I enjoy seeing a constantly changing scene of park visitors and other people just strolling through it.

It disappointed me to see the Daily Post thought it newsworthy to print a photo suggesting that someone might have spent the night in the park. It used a photo of a solitary sleeping gentleman (not me, but Summer's not over yet) and reporting little else. The Post's report could well have been accurate, but I think it is somewhat misleading because the park seems to me to have been broadly embraced by people who are a rich and representative microcosm of the Menlo Park community itself: of all ages, comprised of families, singles and couples alike, of all races, from many countries and from all socio-economic groups.

Having the nice new Adirondack chairs and sun umbrellas made available to the park really made it. And the AstroTurf grass is far more comfortable than I ever would have imagined.

I've been taking some pictures of the park's regularly changing scene, and once I figure out how to upload them to the City's site I will do that.
