Safety for our MPCSD Students

Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,

As a Laurel parent and Menlo Park resident, I am extremely concerned about the transportation recommendations being considered for Upper Laurel (provided in Staff Report 16-008-TC - http://www.menlopark.org/DocumentCenter/View/10753 <http://www.menlopark.org/DocumentCenter/View/10753>). If Menlo Park is truly committed to Safe Routes to Schools for our children, we must:
Implement bike lanes and no parking, NOT sharrows, along Gilbert Avenue.
Include the area north of Willow in SRTS planning, including:
A stop sign at Coleman and Santa Monica
No parking on Coleman between Santa Monica and Riordan (although no parking all along Coleman would be preferable if considering biking traffic to M-A).
Reduced speeds.
Provide a dedicated crossing guard at Willow Road and Gilbert.
Please do what you can to keep our kids safe.

Thank you for your consideration,

Caryn Wasserstein
Laurel Parent
