message to the Transportation Commission

As a Willows resident who will have a child attending Laurel Upper campus
next year, I'd like to voice my support for having a bike lane -- not
sharrows that compete with cars (!) -- on Gilbert avenue so that my 9 year
old can bike safely to school on his own.

This past year we walked to school every day on Coleman avenue. He really
wanted to ride his bike but it is too dangerous. Even I would not ride my
bike between 8 and 8.30 am on Coleman ave between Willow road and Ringwood
ave. There's no dedicated bike lane, there are gravel sections, trees in
the middle of the road that cause the cars to need to swerve, lots of
scooters, bikes, people walking and of course cars. Would be great to have
a safe option for Laurel Upper campus.

Thanks very much.
