Extension of July 11 deadline on the Facebook Draft EIR

It seems clear that the 4-page thoroughly researched letter from the East Palo Alto coalition of agencies was received by the City of Menlo Park and then was misfiled or discarded. This rather sloppy handling of information relating to important health issues and major multiplier effects resulting from Facebook's expansion definitely should be included in the draft EIR for the project. A deadline extension of 15 days and dissemination of the letter to interested parties is the least that Menlo Park should agree to. The City’s current stance on this issue just makes us look bad.

I would appreciate your instructing City staff to extend the public comment period the requested 15 days. The 6,550 new Facebook employees plus hotel guests plus the multiplier effects of employees and their families is equivalent to adding a new small city to Menlo Park. It therefore should not be done in what some consider a cavalier manner.
