Parking Garage

My husband and I often visit San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly graduates) and think
Menlo Park would be well advised to consider one or both of the
blocks-turned-into shopping-malls in downtown SLO. This could be useful
when we consider a parking garage.

I'm sure Flegel's and other stores in the block between University/Santa
Cruz/Oak Grove/Crane are afraid they'd lose business if a multi-story
garage was built where the parking lot is now. I know it's expensive to
build underground, but is it completely prohibitive given that most
builders put in basements in their new construction?

I suggest 2 or 2.5 stories of parking garages underground, part of that 1/2
story above ground for a 3rd story of parking and part used for a theater,
then shops, pedestrian alley's, steps, elevator to shops on a second level.
I'm attaching a few pictures and there are many more if you Google San Luis
Obispo downtown shopping. I'll be in SLO in mid-August and can take more
pictures if you like.

There would have to be a freight elevator as well to provide delivery
options for the furniture stores and others.
