bargaining, closed session

Honorable Council Members,

We are making headway on deferred maintenance, yet much goes unfunded. Smaller items like tennis court nets and parkway maintenance; larger items like traffic signal modernization, a parking structure and making El Camino work; really big items like under-grounding utilities and seed money for grade crossings.

We currently have strong property tax income and a strong business climate. If we make promises in bargaining, how will we keep them when the climate shifts - as it always does eventually? This is a time to invest in our physical city and put the rest in reserve.

Please hold the line on pay and benefits for our esteemed employees so we can continue to catch up on infrastructure and invest w Sacramento in the badly needed large projects above.
