Menlo Park Train Quiet Zone...

Dear city council members,

I am writing in support of Kim Rubin's efforts to declare the Menlo Park
Train corridor as a quiet zone. My observation is that train noise created
by horns of passing trains has little to do with safety and mostly to do
with trains communicating to one another. The horns have failed to prevent
accidents or deter individuals from entering the tracks.

The trains increased horn use in the past year or so coupled with 24hr
construction noise from the Stanford hospital + shopping center have led to
significant interruptions in my family's sleep. Please take this request
seriously and expeditiously as it affects the health and well being of all
our residents, especially the younger population who have significantly
better hearing and are susceptible to being awoken by such intermittent

Thank you for your immediate and due attention to this matter.

Best regards,
Paul Marquardt
