Train Noise Plea

Dear Council,

Thank you for your work on making our town increasingly better every year. I can see the beautification downtown and the public services can’t be beat. We appreciate your time!

I wanted to write to you to urge you to consider a conversation about making Menlo Park a quiet zone for trains. As I understand it, this is possible and does not add any legal liability to the city. I have been following a thread on Next Door Menlo Park. https://centralmenlo.nextdoor.com/news_feed/?post=24549625 <https://centralmenlo.nextdoor.com/news_feed/?post=24549625> I would like to add my voice among the many that would like to at least have a public conversation about the increased train noise and what we can do about it. As buildings will grow higher on El Camino (sound bouncing more) and increased train ridership/increased frequency of trains this will become a real problem. We happened to have a home literally “on the tracks” in Felton Gables. I can tell you first hand the horn is deafening and OFTEN.

Thank you so much for considering a public conversation.

Julie Nelson
