Bike lanes on El Camino Real

Please consider the ever growing traffic congestion on this thoroughfare before entertaining any thought of a bike lane. As more and more housing units, hotels and office space are built in Menlo Park, Redwood City and Palo Alto the traffic has become a nightmare during at least 7 hours of the day. If anything, you should be considering eliminating parking to add another lane each direction for vehicle traffic and search for a safer alternate route for bicycles. In my experience not many bicyclists are commuters but rather school kids and recreational cyclists. I travel by car down Santa Cruz and Oak Grove to Middlefield most mornings and often go out of my way to use Valparaiso instead of Oak Grove/Santa Cruz to avoid the congestion caused by all the Hillview children biking to school. Focus your attention and city funds on installing the long awaited sidewalks and protected bike lanes on Santa Cruz instead of pursuing the misguided idea of adding bike lanes on the El Camino.
