Please don't put bike lanes on El Camino!

I am writing to opposed to converting any part of El Camino to bike lanes.

This is a terrible idea because it would impose large delays on auto
commuters and reduce safety for all when there is a very logical and viable
alternative. El Camino is a State Highway!

The obvious solution is to encourage and facilitate bikers to use Alma St
from Oak Grove to the Palo Alto bike bridge, which allows bikers to continue
down to Palo Alto's main bike paths or pop out on El Camino at the Stanford
mall with only a 300 foot offset that already has a bike path. And Laurel
can be used from Encinal to Willow. Relying on these paths (i) uses existing
bike paths, (ii) is far more conducive to biker safety and (iii) would spare
thousands of auto passengers unnecessary traffic delays and safety risks.
