Reviewing the Policy of Closing on Friday

Today's Front Page article published in the Daily Post newspaper addressed the issue of whether Friday's ought to be open to the general public throughout the year in Palo Alto. The article went on to say that after Palo Alto began the policy of providing the 9/80 program, Menlo Park soon followed.

As such, would it make sense if Palo Alto decides to change the 9/80 program, for Menlo Park to take a look at this policy as well? After many years of this being in place, reviewing the pros and cons, benefits and drawbacks and related policy issues may prove to be very helpful.

One idea advanced is offering a skeleton crew on Fridays in order to process routine items, such as taking messages, accepting payments, issuing forms and similar day to day requests made by the public. Some employees may prefer a standard 8 hour day, vs. 9 or 10 hours each day.

Attached is a copy of the article for your information and consideration.
