Outdated And Inadequate Bike Info on City Website

All:

I am a resident and regular user of the City website and am disappointed
there is so little current info of interest to residents who bike in Menlo
Park. I wonder how residents will react and could support city investments
when so little effort has been made to inform them of our City's
bike-related activities and decisions. Visit other Peninsula city websites
and one finds current and detailed useful information including bike
network development plans mostly published since 2012. The fact that the
current Menlo Park City Bike Development Plan was created in 2004 is
certainly not reassuring.

*Why isn't keeping Menlo Park residents better informed and more engaged in
its decision-making viewed as important? The following evidence is
not persuasive.*

Examples:

1. Link to Bike Commission Workplace goes to a document published in April
5, 2011 => http://www.menlopark.org/DocumentCenter/View/1350

2. The Map of Bike-Related Improvements (Bike Facilities) refers to one
created in December 1999 =>
http://www.menlopark.org/DocumentCenter/View/1351

3. There is no reference to either the current bike network or the
recommendations in the Specific Plan.

4. There is no list of current priorities for Bike Improvements

5. There are no minutes that summarize Bike Commission discussions and
decisions.

6. There is no important info about specific proposals that are currently
being evaluated => what they are/objectives/needs analysis/schedule/
current status/key milestones/issues& concerns/trade-offs/status/expected
costs/etc.

7. There are many other bike topics that should be included on the City
website.

Sincerely,

Dana Hendrickson
