Parking/Bike Lanes

My name is David Eckert. I live in the Linfield Oaks neighborhood. I read in the Post the other day about the possible loss of parking through downtown to provide bike lanes. Today, I went to the post office and it took me a long time to find a parking spot that ended up being quite far from the post office. All of the spots in the parking lot behind it and on the street in front were taken. When I see how busy our downtown is, it doesn't seem like a good plan to eliminate parking that is clearly being used. As a retired public school teacher, I also question the wisdom of having large groups of children riding their bikes through a busy commercial area on their way to and from school. I would think that safe bike lanes away from the downtown commercial area would make a lot more sense. We wouldn't loose the much needed parking and our young people would be safer.

Thank you!
