Oak Grove Bike Path

Dear City Council Members,

Our family rides bikes daily, whether for transportation, pleasure or for work. My son rides his bike from our house in the North Fair Oaks neighborhood to Nativity School and home daily. He also often rides around Menlo Park to Burgess Pool and Skate Park on a regular basis. I ride almost daily from our house to Burgess Pool and Gym and back home and around town. My husband rides all over the county/state for work and pleasure.

We have all witnessed many near bike accidents and have come too close to being hit on too many occasions. The bike path on Oak Grove is a good start to making our streets safer for cyclists. Cyclists do a lot to help the environment by not driving cars as much, thereby decreasing their carbon footprint. They also tend to be healthier, in part do to the exercise they get while riding, cutting down on healthcare costs. Anything our community can do to help promote safer cycling and support cyclists should be done, especially when the cost is so low.

Sincerely,
Lisa Sheeper
