Carriage House April 11 agenda Item H6 and Staff Report# 16-065-CC

The Roger Reynolds Carriage is a historic building that should not be
demolished. As I understand it, Hunter Properties, is willing to set
it aside for 60 days. This is an offer and an opportunity which I
deem imperative for Council to welcome and accept. You should NOT
accept staff's recommendation that "City Council not accept and
relocate Roger Reynolds Carriage Stop Building."
Saving the building for 60 days would provide time for the City,
perhaps the Menlo Park Historical Association, and other entities to
plan for the future placement and use of the Carriage House. This is
not an easy nut to crack, but we must not hastily allow the
destruction of a beautiful element of our local heritage. We should
rather keep it...at least for a short time as the developer is
offering, but hopefully we will have the Carriage House for the longer
term, for ourselves and future generations.
