Re: Laurel Walk and Wheel To School Day - DATE CHANGED TO MAY 4TH

From: domainremoved <Jennifer>
Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2016 16:03:32 -0700

Dear Menlo Park City Officials,

Thank you again for offering your incredible support for the Laurel Walk
and Wheel Event on May 4th.

I have just learned that Laurel will not be able at this time to get the
liability insurance needed for the County Event Application/ Encroachment
Permit and therefore we will not be able to request "No Parking" on Coleman
for that day. Because I feel that "No Parking" on Coleman is an essential
part of making a safe(r) route to school for our kids, I no longer feel
comfortable organizing families to participate on this day.

Laurel will still encourage families to participate in Walking or Biking to
school on the National Bike to School Day on May 4th. The
festivities/organization will only be on the Laurel campus and will involve
passing out stickers, OJ, pedometers and bike bells. While more families
than usual will still likely come out that day, there will no longer be a
"parade" of kids and walkers organized through the neighborhood.

I will leave it up to Ellen Kraska, Laurel Asst. Principal, to follow-up
with you about different types of supports that she would still like to see
on the day. I would imagine that an increased police presence would still
be beneficial, but again, I will defer to Ellen Kraska to connect with you.

Thank you all again for your incredible mobilization and I hope to get
involved again in the future.

Very sincerely,
Jen Wolosin
