3/15/16 Council Agenda Item J1: Support for Caltrain Go Pro Passes in Budget Review

Dear Mayor Cline and Council Members,

I’m writing in support of a new program to provide City employees with free Caltrain Go Passes. This proposal is included in the mid-year budget review that you’ll consider this Tuesday. I hope you’ll support it for all of the reasons described in the budget report. Helping employees ride transit benefits the City in many ways by:
Reducing congestion;
Helping achieve carbon reductions to meet climate goals;
Providing leadership for effective transportation demand management (TDM); and
Freeing up more parking at already congested Burgess Park and City Administration Building facilities.
We appreciate efforts like these by the City of Menlo Park to lead by example and support high quality sustainability measures that benefit both employees and the community. This is a relatively modest investment with a strong payoff per the above bulleted points.

Thank you for considering these comments and for your continued leadership.
