Dear Council,

I am writing to you to emphasize the enormous importance in making the
Menlo Park streets safe for our children to ride to and from schools. I am
a pediatrician and mother of three school age children in Menlo Park. I
cannot tell you enough how important this issue is to me. I have seen
first hand the result of head injuries related to car versus bike accidents
in children. Anything we can do as a community to decrease these awful
outcomes should be at the top of our priority list. We pride ourselves for
being a child-friendly community, and the vast majority of the children in
this community have parents who are also driving these streets and would
appreciate any steps to make their children safer.

Please consider this of the utmost importance in our planning for the
