Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,
I love Menlo Park like you do. I hope you will consider passing the Oak Grove-University Bike Boulevard Initiative as well as expanding a Bike Boulevards throughout the city to reduce traffic congestion.
Like a lot of other parents, I do not feel the routes are safe for our kids to ride their bikes to school - in my case, from Linfield Oaks to Encinal School.
Without a bike boulevard network providing access from neighborhoods to the local school, parents will continue to keep their kids from riding their bikes not only to school, but to friends' houses, and after-school and summer activities. By establishing a Bike Boulevard network in Menlo Park, more kids and parents will ride their bikes or scooters around town, traffic congestion will decrease, parking congestion in the school neighborhoods will lighten leading to happier residents, and gridlock on the streets around the schools during drop-off and pick-up times will lessen, improving access for emergency vehicles or police to respond to emergencies at the school or school neighborhood homes.
I know we can work together to continue to improve the quality of life in Menlo Park. Please vote to support Bike Boulevards.
Thank you,Charles R. PreussMenlo Park Resident
