Community Choice Energy

Dear Council Members,

Thank you for participating in the San Mateo County study of Community
Choice Energy, and thank you for taking a proactive stance on setting a
greenhouse gas reduction target a few years ago.

When the Council adopted the targets, we did not have full information
about how to achieve them but the intention was for the targets to motivate
the city to seek opportunities. Community Choice Energy is such an
opportunity. Getting our electricity from clean sources like solar and
wind, instead of from polluting fossil fuels, will significantly reduce our
carbon missions.

Community Choice Energy through San Mateo County is a great opportunity for
Menlo Park to get cleaner electricity to help meet its 2020 climate goals
without increasing energy costs for residents and businesses. Anyone who
does not want to participate can easily stick with PG&E.

Based on the city's climate goals and the results of the study, I would
urge Menlo Park to join the County CCE, and pursue an energy mix as close
as possible to 100% clean energy without increasing costs to consumers.

Please support clean power for Menlo Park.

Thank you for your consideration.
