Oak Grove - University Bike Boulevard

City Council Members,

I'm writing to ask you to support the proposal to add the Oak
Grove-University Boulevard. The increased safety, the reduced speed limits,
easy (and inexpensive) implementation, and community-building aspects of
this environmentally friendly and safety conscious proposal make it an
obvious choice. We are a (growing) family of three, and we only have one
car. Biking is our other primary mode of transportation and we would great
appreciate a more bicycling friendly city. Menlo Park leads the country in
many ways, and this is just another that can set us apart. PLEASE consider
and approve this proposal! It will effect our family for generations as our
children grow to be school aged. Everyone wins in this proposal; the only
"negative" impact it might have is slowing down motorists who may arrive a
few minutes later to their destination, albeit safer!

(Also, as you think about the bike-ability of Menlo Park, please reconsider
allowing parking on Laurel on Sundays. People bike every day of the week
and parked cars take away the bike lane. It's been dangerous for us as we
bike around town and to Burgess Park on the weekends.)

Ultimately, the Oak Grove - University Bike Boulevard will only make our
city safer - for motorists, for cyclists and for pedestrians. Please make
it a reality!
