Drones/gas engines Bayfront Park

Dear City Council Members,
I am a 40 year resident of Menlo Park, and have walked at Bayfront Park for years. Recently, in the last few years, I no longer can walk there peacefully, doing what the park was set up for, which is "passive recreation".

The noise and physical intrusion from the hobbies ruins the enjoyment. My husband and I have been followed over the trails, watched dogfights between several drones over the tree tops, seen huge gatherings, with banners included announcing where drone fliers were to meet, seen geese routed by the helicopter that has taken over a large field, seen hawks harassed and followed by a drone, you get the picture.

Due to the increased noise from the environment we live in (we live in the Willows) I now wear earplugs to bed to drown out the airplanes, sirens, freeway traffic, not to mention the many two stroke engines that the city allows the gardeners to use. The Baylands was one of the few places we could go as a respite from the environmental barrage we endure.

Please read the Charter for the park. The words "passive recreation" do not include noise that is so loud you cannot block it out, not to mention the supreme rights of the thousands of birds that inhabit the park. In my opinion, their rights come first, as well as the thousands of families that walk there, before the handful of hobbies that want to fly their machines there. If you have not walked the trails there, please do so. It is a resource worth preserving. Sincerely, Barbara Phillips 155 Laurel Ave., Menlo Park
