Bike routes to schools

Dear council,

The school traffic in this town is horrendous. Please, please consider the
great work your bicycle commission has done and take action on safe bike
routes.

I live on University Drive and occasionally bike with my second-grader to
Encinal. The trip from Draeger’s to Valparaiso is the worst part of the
ride as it is difficult to share the road through downtown.

When I drive to Encinal and return home, I am on high alert for Hillview
students on their way to school. They are riding on and off the sidewalks
on Oak Grove and Santa Cruz in an attempt to stay safe. But their
unpredictable movements just make their ride more dangerous.

We need dedicated bike routes to our schools.

Thank you for your service to our town.

Sincerely,

Marijane
