Gridlock in Menlo Park Affecting Emergency Response - ABC7 News

Dear Council Members,

ABC7 News has an interesting piece about how vehicle congestion in Menlo
Park is affecting emergency response:

http://abc7news.com/traffic/gridlock-in-menlo-park-affecting-emergency-response/1027802/

One passage in particular caught my attention:

"The rush of traffic in Menlo Park has become such a challenge, the
department has an agreement with Palo Alto to drive through tier [sic] city
to get around traffic if necessary."

I assume our emergency vehicles cut through Palo Alto's traffic-calmed
Downtown North neighborhood to circumvent gridlock. It doesn't strike me a
viable model to rely on a neighboring city to avoid real traffic reduction
measures in our own town.
Were you aware of this agreement with Palo Alto? What do you think of it?

Thank you and best regards,
Stefan Petry
