Corner of Alma and Ravenswood

Dear Council - I still do not like the prohibition of right turns onto Alma
Street from Ravenswood, just past the RR tracks. Too often the traffic
backs up past the tracks due to the light at Laurel. Cars are sometimes
caught on the tracks. This is unsafe.
Three suggestions:
1. Allow right turns once again onto Alma. Alma has plenty of capacity.
2. Maintain 2 lanes eastbound on Ravenswood all the way to Laurel Street.
That way the merge to one lane will happen after cars going south will have
vacated the street.
3. Re-establish the "Keep Clear" zone just west of the RR tracks so that
any cars caught on the tracks can back off to safety. Why was the signage
for the "Keep Clear" zone eliminated? Now no one knows to stay out and the
zone is ineffective. (I must admit that it was widely ignored before.)

Once again, I would like to be able to turn right onto Alma from Ravenswood
to go home and to work. I don't see any good reason (including pedestrian
safety) to disallow it. Pedestrians could be protected other ways.

Thank you,

Robin Severns
