El Camino Real

Honorable council members,

It has been obvious for decades that there is a traffic bottleneck in Menlo Park. The resulting backup is not one of our cities assets - nor the traffic pushed into Allied Arts and University Drive trying to get around that bottleneck.

It is true that having continuous travel through all of El Camino in Menlo Park will result ultimately in more cars there; that is the idea. We don't want the cars on neighborhood streets, we want them on our state arterial of commercial properties.

We will soon have hundreds of new workers and residents on El Camino - located there precisely because that is where transit and traffic belong. It is the city's job to provide for traffic flow, not traffic jams.
