Dear Mr. White:

Thank you for your email. Last week Jim Cogan, the City's Economic Development Manager sent this email to a neighbor with a similar concern pertaining to the pop-up park location. I hope the information is helpful. Finally, I admit, while I do enjoy the Chestnut Paseo and did use it last year for my State of the City address, I can't take credit for it. It's concept and location originated in the Specific Plan planning process and was vetted by both the Planning Commission and the City Council.

With best regards,
Ray Mueller

Betsy and Horace

Thank you for your email. I appreciate your comments and suggestions. To answer your question regarding the location, the pop-up park location was chosen to match the location envisioned in the El Camino Real/Downtown Specific Plan for a downtown paseo.

The pop-up park is a pilot program intended to assess community interest and support for more permanent improvements. As a pilot, it is limited to 7 weeks and will be removed at the end of September. There will be a mix of active and passive uses programmed during the pilot. There will be group exercise classes, scheduled temporary play equipment for children, lawn games, Friday night movies September 4, 11, 18, & 25 and temporary seating. Please come check out all that we hope to do to enhance downtown.

Thank you again for your comments and please feel free to share any other suggestions you have.

Sincerely,

Jim Cogan

> Chestnut Street / Santa Cruz Avenue is one of the very few 4-way stops on Santa Cruz Avenue, so this intersection is an easy and safe place for cars to turn onto Santa Cruz - the only place between Left Bank and Peet's where it's easy to do. When I walked through the intersection yesterday, cars were rolling right through the stop signs because cross traffic was no longer a consideration. Maybe the pop-up pilot project could be on one of the streets with an existing 2-way stop, instead. Thanks for considering.

I have heard that you are the "brains" behind this idiotic park. We need the parking places back, we need the roadway back. The BARBER NEEDS ACCESS BACK.
What are you thinking?
This along with the Bike lanes on El Camino don't need to happen. Please start thinking about the majority who travel in cars and need to move around the City often.
