El Camino in Menlo Park.

Council Members,

El Camino has never and will never be a bike friendly road. Over the next 10 years you will have major developments all along El Camino that will require 3 lanes of traffic to reduce current and potential backups. I already take back roads to PA and Redwood City during high traffic times to avoid the quagmire created by a reduction of lanes in MP. Any action short of creating 3 lanes will only increase traffic issues. Please do what is right for the greater good of MP and not for just a select group of bikers. I support bike lanes on roads where it makes sense like Santa Cruz and will always encourage biking where it makes sense but not where it will make a bad deal worse. Traffic is not going to get lighter. Over time it will only increase as our area continues to grow. There are plenty of other roads that bikers can use away from El Camino. Adding bike lanes and hoping traffic issues will handle themselves is a utopian pipe dream that only an economist with their heads in a cloud could support
.

Thanks for your attention to this matter and appreciate your efforts to make a sane decision.

Regards,

PJ
