Lee,
I agree with you and I will add that our neighboring cities: Redwood City, Atherton, Palo Alto, Los Altos and Mountain View should work on a comprehensive plan for ECR. It's already a nightmare to drive on ECR with cities making changes without coordination. It's a major road which carries people to and from work. We can dream about bikes and pedestrian walking to and from stores (which I do sometimes), but try to carry 10 lbs bag from Safeway for a few miles.
There are a lot of talents at Stanford and we can use them to developed a plan for ECR based on science not on dreams.
I walk a lot and drive a lot, but crossing ECR it's a dangerous endeavor. I would add also that most of the time bikers are not obeying road rules which creates dangerous situations, now imagine add hundreds of of them on ECR. It's irresponsible decision.
I'm for a Motorist Commission.
