El Camino Real Traffic

Dear Honorable Council Members,
I live in Menlo Park for over forty plus years, El Camino Real through
Menlo Park traffic is getting worse by the year. Anytime of the day between
7:30 am to 7:30 pm it can take 15 to 20 minutes to go through six traffic
signal lights on El Camino Real. I use El Camino Real everyday.
Last week because there were some road work being done on South bound El
Camino Real between Oak Grove and Santa Cruz Ave., the traffic was narrowed
down to one lane at the job site and traffic was backed up pass Menlo
College. It took me over twenty minutes to travel from Menlo College to Oak Grove.
I'm all for removing all parking along El Camino Real and return to three
lanes traffic both directions going through Menlo Park to reduce
congestions. The amount of delivery and construction trucks of all sizes,
automobiles, and buses moving through Menlo Park over two lanes during those hours
are totally inadequate. Having three lanes in both directions would help to
alleviate the problem significantly.
With more upcoming new development along El Camino Real in Menlo Park the
traffic will get even worse, so I plead to the council to consider the
three lane traffic solution both directions seriously and let the traffic flow
smoothly through Menlo Park.
