El Camino congestion

I drive through Menlo Park from Valparaiso onto Middle Ave each day for work for years and I was apalled back in the 80s when the lanes changed from 3 to 2 and then planter boxes with trees were installed for the "beautification process."
I said to myself "why the heck would they do that and reduce the lanes and plant trees?". That makes no sense at all!!
And sure enough the traffic got worse and worse and worse and the poor merchants on each side of El Camino do nothing but breathe in gas fumes as do we in our cars bumper to bumper. It is really disgusting and for years I have complained about the congested traffic.
Of course we who are in the know can cut through Menlo Park residential streets upsetting the residents.

I beg you to do the practical thing based on traffic and turn the streets back to three lanes get into the 21st-century.
It's only common sense.

A resident since 1956.
