traffic and bike lanes

Dear Council-

I understand that on Tuesday there will be a discussion about possible
changes to El Camino that include an extra lane for car traffic or a bike

I strongly urge you to do everything possible to alleviate auto traffic
congestion in Menlo Park. The idea of a bike lane on El Camino seems like
lunacy to me. I drive that stretch every morning and evening to work and
the drivers to my left and right are texting while driving. I would never
ride my bike on ElCamino even if there were a 4 foot barrier between me and
traffic. Auto traffic is the defining issue for Menlo Park at this time.
My neighbors are talking about moving to Portola Valley to leave the
bottleneck that is El Camino and the addition of the Stanford development
will drive this problem over the top in my opinion. Please add a new lane
for auto traffic- at least during commute hours.

PS Palo Alto's selfish decision to route Sand Hill and Alma traffic through
Menlo Park is a major contributor to Menlo's headaches.
