First of all, thank you so much for your family's support of the library. I'm delighted to know that you are enjoying this great resource.

However, I am very sad and frustrated to hear of your bicycle thefts. I'll discuss this with the Police Chief and City Manager to determine what we might do to make the area safer for bikes and theft. We certainly want to encourage people to bike to the library and to feel that there property is safe.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

All the best,

> As a resident and parent in our community we have biked to school and activities and the Library since Kindergarten...they now bike to MAHS. It is good exercise, convenient, and saves on pollution and congestion producing traffic which should all be positives for MP. However, we have had two bikes stolen from the front of the library. The latter was stolen while my son was being trained as a Library Volunteer!
> This pattern of theft is, to my understanding, not uncommon. (When telling our story to friends they had a similar incident.) I feel it would be appropriate for the City to enhance security for a mode of travel we wish to encourage and I hope you can spearhead that effort.
> I would suggest a security camera, similar to, or better than, the cameras mounted in the other two parking lots at the Civic Center. However, I leave it up to you to decide what is effectively "better" than we have now. These thefts are occurring midday, noon and 3:30 PM, during school and in the Summer, and with tools which means the thief/thieves know how and when to commit this crime.
