Recent water rates changes...

I live on Santa Cruz ave in Menlo Park for 15+ years, my wife and I have gone to great lengths to reduce our water usage over the years and recently doubled that effort in the past year by removing our lawn and making sure to reuse water when possible to flush toilets or water our plants.

I have heard that our water rates are going up due to loss in revenue and our cost of water. This does not bother me as long as this is done fairly within the community. However, I have heard that our neighbors who have not done (as good a job at) conservation will be rewarded with a price reduction for larger users of water. Why are the rates for people who are wasting our valuable resource getting a discount on their water? Please make sure that water rates reflect the usage of customers, with a drought there should be NO discount for large users of water. If they want to lower their bills, they can reduce their consumption like many of their neighbors have!
