Fw: Laurel School Upper Campus Construction Update

From: domainremoved <Omar>
Date: Sun, 5 Jul 2015 22:25:04 +0000

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Independence Day weekend!
Please see below a letter written to part of the neighborhood about removing a centuries old Oak Tree on the new Upper Laurel Campus. This tree is on the edge of the planned playground and has been maintained for years by the school district. It appears totally healthy and is a rare specimen. It would be a tragedy to see it removed.
Please take a minute to write Ahmad and or the school district if you would like to see this tree maintained. They just announced it is scheduled to be removed next week.
Thanks for your time and sorry to bother people on this holiday weekend.

Dear Laurel School Upper Campus Neighbors,

I am writing this e-mail to provide you an update of the construction project at 275 Elliott Drive.  As you are aware the tree removal and site clearing work has begun.  The work will resume on Monday after the 4th of July holiday and be completed by the end of next week.  After the site has been cleared, the contractor will begin work with the building foundation preparation and site utilities.

I am also writing this letter to inform our neighbors that after a lengthy review process and consideration, the District has determined to remove the large oak tree along the school border and 420-424 French Court.  The District has consulted with several arborist and concluded that the risk to property and life is too great to maintain this tree.  In light of recent tree collapses in the area during the last winter, the District believes that removal of this tree is most prudent and safe.  This decision was very agonizing and difficult but the safety of the public and students always takes precedent.  The tree is scheduled for removal next week.
