We need another preschool/day care facility in the Willows.
I have an idea.
Is there would be any way to work with the old Baptist Church on the corner
of Menalto and Gilbert to see if they would be willing to renovate their
property to encompass a small neighborhood preschool/day care?
Considering the church's generosity in loaning Willows residents their
classroom for a neighborhood voting station each election, (and yet they
don't have the finances to paint and repair their own buildings), AND that
there are waiting lists for every preschool/day care around here.
I think it would be a WIN WIN proposition.
WIN WIN:
1) The church would receive help with renovation/restoration of their
dilapidated church and classrooms, and the neighborhood would get a badly
needed preschool or day care.
2) The church only uses the chapel on Sundays, and we need child
care/education Monday - Friday. Perfect!
3) Rennovation/restoration of the church's property would improve the
neighborhood.
4) There is obviously a need for more preschools/day care facilities.
Witness the families spending the night in the park to get into Footsteps
Preschool or waiting years to get into Applebee! perhaps one those
preschools would like to open another facility? ;-)
Selfishly, I would love it to be partially Spanish speaking, as that is
practically nonexistent in this area. We have German, French and Mandarin
Immersion preschools, but none in Spanish!!!!! Incredible for this area!
What do you think? Who should I talk to?
