Dumbarton Rail Corridor Project

City Council Members,

I have lived in Surburban Park since 1955, and remember the trains like
it was yesterday. The regular freight came through at 2:30 A.M. six
days a week. Freights came through at various other times of the day
but not on a regular basis. At least once a day. I am totally opposed
to any train traffic on these tracks.

This project is going to cost many millions of scarce tax payer dollars
with little return in benefit. The only people who will benefit are
the railroads. We put up with the noise, expense, loss of property
values, the railroads increase their bottom line.

I cannot figure out how anyone would use the system. Drive to a
station in the east bay, take the train to Redwood City, change to a
train to San Jose, get on a bus in what ever city to get to your job
site. If Cal Train goes electric there will be another expense to
convert this system to electric. Unless can efficiently move people in
the same or about the same time frame they will not use it.

This system will not be accepted by the public. Currently they can't
get the support to get Bart to San Jose, which would be more effective.
If they ever manage to get Bart to San Jose then this route would do
little business except to use tax payer dollars.
