Fwd: Traffic Noise: Road, Street, Highway & Freeway Noise Impact Control for Homes Residences, Businesses & Schools. - Acoustics.com

Hon. Mayor and councilmembers, et al

The worst of these admittedly is heavy diesel locomotives and freight
trains with routine blasting horns.

The attached acoustics treatise points out
under Health & Safety that apart from hearing loss "Other health
problems associated with noise exposure include headaches, tinnitus,
high blood pressure, heart problems, respiratory ailments, and even
negative fetal development."

Then : "Although the LEED program takes into account water, air, land
and light pollution, it surprisinglyh does not include noise pollution.
Although controlling/limiting light pollution is very important, noise
pollution can be far more annoying and harmful..."

Unless the city's numerous commissions and committees consider sensitive
human receptors of air and noise pollution in all land use, circulation
and transportation decisions they might as well fold up now and save
$35,000 which could go toward employing and acoustical engineer instead
of adding to the bottomless pit of irresponsible spending in this city.
We all know about saving water,
energy, recycling and other "green" goals.
