Madam Mayor and Council Members

Madam Mayor and Council Members,

First, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to speak at
last night's council meeting. I believe that your council has
continued to fulfill your campaign pledge to "listen to the voters"
and I am grateful to have had my say.

Second, regarding the "incident" of uncivilness during my
presentation, I believe I may owe you, Madam Mayor my
sincere apologies. At first, I had thought that there was
some misapprehension on your part as I was reading quickly
in order to ennunciate the most important points of what had
been written as a six minute speech. I could not comprehend
what it was that I said that required censure.

Having had a chance to re-examine my talking points, I have
concluded that, in fact, to a patriotic American, I did show
considerable disrespect towards our country's chief executive,
George Bush. Therefore, I hearby on this public forum, do
apologize to You, Madam Mayor, the Council, and to any
other members of the public who were offended by my flippant
comment concerning Mr. Bush. Clearly, in government
chambers and before loyal and patriot government officials,
I crossed the line to uncivilness. I apologize for having chosen
the wrong venue for expressing my opinion. I commend and
respect you for your ardent and quick defense of our president.

Finally, I thank you for your service to the city and I thank you
for meeting the challenges of doing only what is best for the city
and for defending the interests of its citizens.
